Dragons Pearl is a family run Chinese take away that has been established in Witney since 1996. We have enjoyed serving food to our customers over the years and listening to you, our customers, is what has inspired us develop our new menu and website. So we would like to to explain how we work and what our philosophy is and in turn you can let us know what you think or how we can improve!

We aim to serve you the freshest, best quality produce in the healthiest way we can. So for starters all our food is MSG free. MSG, or Monosodium Glutamate is a salt of the amino acid – Glutamic Acid (glutamate), many take-aways and restaurants add this to their food to enhance flavours, however there is an ongoing debate as to the health aspects of MSG. For instance, if you eat food which has MSG included, it can stimulate your pancreas to produce insulin, even though it may not be required, and therefore your blood sugar levels drop and an hour later you feel hungry again. This is just one example of possible effects and after our research we felt our customers deserved not to have this added to their food and so no MSG has been used at Dragons Pearl for almost two years now.

All our food is prepared on site, we buy fresh, not frozen produce and prep it ourselves. All our batters are homemade, our meats are fresh and cut and prepared at the shop along with all the vegetables. This way we can ensure the quality of what you receive. And although you might hear alot of “shouting” from our kitchen, you’ll never hear a “ding” as we do not use or have any microwaves, everything is cooked fresh to order.

We try to do our bit for the envirourment also and so we recycle all our used cooking oils, with Agri an oil recycling company. The oil we use in cooking is Rapeseed Oil which is recommended by the British Heart Foundation as a “good fat”.

At Dragons Pearl we also believe that Great Britain delivers great produce and so another of our commitments is supporting British and local suppliers and businesses wherever possible to give you the best food from as close to home as we can…..
